A downloadable game

A Story Game without the usage of dialogue or text.

Concept

The Kingdom’s Curse is a small project that delves into the concept of storytelling without relying on dialogue. Instead of the typical text boxes, it uses the environment and core gameplay.  If you played it and wanted to know more about the story or experience more of the atmosphere, it served its purpose.

When talking about the environment, it’s mainly about the Environmental Storytelling. If you would like to know more about the research and execution, it can be found here:
https://summit-2324-sem1.game-lab.nl/2023/09/27/story-game-without-dialogue/.
The full story and concept can also be found there.

It was part of a research project that took about five weeks and has about four minutes of playtime.

Controls

It is playable on controller and keyboard, but the controller is advised.

Joystick/WASD are used to walk.

ALT+4F are used to close the game.

Any other controls should be made clear within the game itself.

I really enjoyed this. It was an interesting view on game development as almost every game is built on text or dialogue but you made a demo that showed that it's possible to do without any words at all. I also loved the research document, a lot of good points in there. I made a video where I talk more about it if you want to see it. If you don't that's fine and I hope you continue working hard. You seem extremely dedicated to this.

Thank you for playing the game! I’m glad you found the research interesting 😊. I really appreciate that you created a video and posted the link so I could watch it. I’m always interested in what people think about the things I’m trying to create!

I'm glad. I love writing stories so this was very intriguing. I hope that you continue to work on game design. Can't wait to see what you make in the future
